Get Involved

Each of our 7 GP Practices has its own Patient Participation Group. If you would like to put yourself forward to become a member by informing your individual Practice or ask at Reception to request more details.

There are some other ways you might want to become involved at a local level too. For example, please click on these links below:

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS)

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) is proud to confirm its first Patient and Public Panel (PPP) is now up and running.

The PPP gives patients and the public an opportunity to share their views and help shape NWAS’ emergency, patient transport and 111 services. Would you like to be involved too?

We have developed varying levels of participation to ensure people can get involved in a way that suits them best, depending on the amount of time and level of interest they have. It can even be done virtually!

Participation can include responding to surveys, giving feedback on publications, initiatives and strategies, taking part in focus groups along with participating in committees and formal meetings.

Membership is open to anyone who lives in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire or Cumbria who isn’t currently employed by NWAS and is 16 or over. Applications are welcome from people of all backgrounds, beliefs, cultures and circumstances to ensure the panel is representative of the communities served by North West Ambulance Service.

Cheshire East Carers Forum

Carers of all ages play a very significant and important role within the communities of Cheshire East and estimates indicate that in Cheshire East, there are approximately 42,000 Carers.

There are many definitions to describe Carers and the caring role. Carers Trust defines a Carer as “anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.”( Carers Trust: http://www.carers.org/role-carer ).

Under the Children and Families Act 2014, a young carer is defined as:

A person under 18 who provides, or intends to provide, care for another person. The concept of ‘care’ includes practical or emotional support, and ‘another person’ means anyone within the same family, be they adult or child.

Young Adult Carers are young people aged between 16 and 25 who are caring for another child or young person, or an adult.

The Cheshire East Carers Forum aims to be a voice to inform service providers of the needs of carers and their families
With the delivery of health and social care services focussing on how they achieve integrated ways of delivering services, it is more important than ever to have a clear offer and vision for carers’ services, which builds on the aspirations and statutory framework of The Care Act (2014) and Under Children and families Act 2014.

The Cheshire East Carers Forum will facilitate two–way communication between carers and services used by all carers and their families in Cheshire East. The forum will work to provide feedback on services, offer constructive challenge to current services and input into decision making and planning for future service provision.

By working co-operatively and collaboratively with local service providers carers can contribute to improvements in the services delivered for carers
• Through regular communication with carers ensuring they can decide whether to be involved in a piece of work/consultation.
• Ensuring a diverse forum membership and representation of diverse views from carers from all backgrounds and sectors of the community.
• Promoting a reputation and image of the Cheshire East Carers Forum which reflects its aims and values.

By establishing a Cheshire East Carers Forum it will help facilitate health and social care commissioners to work in partnership with Carers to develop and evaluate innovative new ways in supporting Carers and their cared for.

If you are interested in being part of the Cheshire East Carers forum, please contact Jill Stenton – Senior Commissioning Manager.

Healthwatch Cheshire East

Healthwatch Cheshire East is an independent consumer champion for health and care across Cheshire East, forming part of the national network of local Healthwatch across England. Our role is to make sure that those who run health and care services understand and act on what really matters to local people.

Healthwatch Cheshire East undertake continuous engagement activities with the public to hear about concerns and compliments regarding health and care services. The information we gather is then analysed so that we can identify and act upon trends and common themes by presenting our findings to decision makers in order to improve the services people use. We also share people’s views locally with Healthwatch England who make sure that the government put people at the heart of care nationally.

We want to hear about your views, needs and experiences to help Cheshire East get the best possible health and care. Share your views on our online Feedback Centre by visiting
www.healthwatchcheshireeast.org.uk

One way you can get involved and share your views and experiences is by being a member of our Citizens Focus Panel.

The Citizens Focus Panel is designed to enable us to get feedback on particular topics from a set group of Cheshire residents on a regular basis. This would entail us sending you very short online surveys throughout the year, which you can complete on your computer, tablet or phone. So, if you have 5-10 minutes at home, on a coffee break or even on your commute, it is easier than ever to have your say on your local NHS and care services. You may also be invited to get involved in online events and consultations.

Every time we do a survey, we will report back to you on what our Citizens Focus Panel has told us, and how that is being fed in to those who provide and commission health and care services to improve the future experiences of people. We want to keep you fully informed on the difference you are making.

More information on the Citizens Focus Panel, and how you can become a member, is available on our website:
